Word Wisdom

I was reading Romans and just started thinking about Paul and his life. I began to wonder why God used a man who persecuted Christians to speak to Christians through his writings with letters that make up almost half of the New Testament.

And I had a realization...

Blessing in the doing...

Do what needs to be done...even when you don't fell like it.  You have no idea of the blessings that await you if you MOVE!

Overcome feelings. Overcome emotions.  Overcome negative voices. Overcome them all.

Why? Because all of those are obstacles to achievement and blessings.

And, obstacles MAY be overcome if you decide to, if you make a conscience decision to try to move past them.

Case in point. I am over doing laundry right now.  I just do not feel like finishing those last two loads. Because, if I wash them, then I have to take the clothes in the washer out.  And, if I take the clothes in the washer out, I have to put them in the dryer. And, If I put them in the dryer, I have to take the clothes already in the dryer out...and fold them.  And, if I fold them, I have to put them away.

Whew! I'm even more tired just typing all that.

But, it needs to be done.  So, grudgingly, I just put the next to the last load of clothes in the washer. I took the clothes in the dryer out, put the clothes already in the washer into the dryer, and then began to fold the clothes I had just taken out of the dryer.

And, guess what??!!

A $20 bill fell out of a sock. Yep, you read correctly.  A SOCK!

What?!!

Yep, do what needs to be done even if you don't feel like it.  The blessings are discovered in the doing. :)

Anything like that happen to you this week?  Were you blessed in the doing? I'd love to hear about it.

Letter Writing...A Lost Art Revisited

I stumbled upon a letter my older sister had written to me when she was a junior in college and I was still in high school.  I thought about how sweet it was for her to take time out of whatever she was doing as a college student and sit and write to her baby sister, who she obviously was thinking of.

I loved the cream and carmel brown coloring of the aged envelope.  I loved seeing her calligraphy handwriting which we so often teased her about. I even loved seeing the dated stamp on the envelope, which had history of its own.

And then I realized how this age of computers has taken away some of the little personable delights letter writing gave.  You know...things like running to the mailbox to see if a letter had come.  The delight I remember feeling when I opened a Christmas or birthday card that was addressed to JUST ME as a little girl, and how proud I was to be opening my own letter (as I was one of MANY girls in my family).  Even smelling the faint scent of the person who sent the card or letter, which somehow seemed to linger between the consonants, vowels, and syllables.

So, I've decided to throw nostalgia to the wind, break the rules of PC and begin letter writing again. Yeah, I'm a rebel.

But, this time I'm going to add a twist.  I'm going to write to the future.

Yep, you read correctly--THE FUTURE.

I touch eternity...I am a mom.

I love dinnertime with my sons.  It's like dinner with the headlines.  I get all the day's major information announced emphatically and with a sense of urgency (remember I have a 4 and an 8 YO).

But, tonight was different.  Tonight my boys were surprisingly silent.

I don't know if it was the amazing "breakfast dinner" of blueberry pancakes I whipped up, the fact that my youngest son was getting over a being ill, or that they just FINALLY ran out of stuff to say...hahahaha yeah, right! Either way, it gave me a moment to reflect...and as I sat there staring at them, my babies morphed into adults.

This happened to me before.  About two years ago, I was cleaning out the tub about to begin our nighttime bath ritual, and had just finish yelling at my oldest son to hurry and brush his teeth for the hundredth time. Then it hit me.  I just yelled at my great-grand kids' grandfather.

What??!!!
